SOME RESPONSES TO CRUISING

Hi Brian/Agatha
Once again i feel a need to express how much i love cruising.
it's like something really important happened and then i have to walk around with it
and it's hard to express it to other people but very easy at the same time. like something
has happened that has somehow changed me as a person, moved me to a new level, some
pivotal expereince in my life, that's what i tap into when i'm cruising. i try and hone in on that
exact feeling and just be it for the time that we are all there together. i like being in that space
very much.
anyhoo i guess i just want to say that i am soooo excited to be apart of it.
As i am in noosa town, recharging my batteries and thinking about things, if it's at all possible
for my top/pants to be dropped off at the Greedy Hen studio which at 259 Riley street surry hills,
above the old Wren gallery. (it's up the stairs, entry on riley street - down the corridor, second studio on the
the left number 6), that would be amazing. If not i'm happy to coordinate something else with you two
lovelies.
I look forward to friday
xoxo

CRUISING WITH WRONG SOLO

CRUISING WITH WRONG SOLO
(CLOSE YOUR EYES). STAND UPRIGHT. LENGTHEN YOUR
SPINE. IMAGINE YOUR HEIGHT.
(OPEN YOUR EYES). SEE THE FIRST THING YOU SEE. MEET
THAT THING.
NOTICE THE COLOUR OF THE AIR. LET THAT COLOUR COME
INTO YOU. COME OUT TO MEET THAT COLOUR. NAME IT.
TAKE A STEP. TAKE ANOTHER. WALK. WHAT COLOUR ARE
YOU? IS IT DIFFERENT TO THE COLOUR YOU WERE BEFORE?
HOW MUCH SPACE IS THERE BETWEEN YOU AND THE WALL?
HOW MUCH SPACE IS THERE BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR
FRIEND? BETWEEN YOU AND THE STRANGER?
PAUSE.
BREATHE.
CONTINUE TO WALK. DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT. YOU ARE
ALREADY DOING IT. THIS IS CRUISING. CONTINUE TO CRUISE.
PAUSE. REMEMBER TO BREATHE. NOTICE THE COLOUR OF
THE AIR. NAME IT. NOTICE THE SPACE BETWEEN YOU AND
THE WALL. NAME IT.
TRY NOT TO WORRY. YOU WERE ALREADY CRUISING BEFORE
YOU BEGAN.
CRUISING IS NOT THAT DIFFERENT TO WALKING.
YOU ARE CRUISING NOW.
Want to know more? Meet WRONG SOLO here at the following times:
Thursdays 3 – 4pm
Saturdays 3 – 4pm

Text by Brian Fuata for WRONG SOLO

SATURDAY 27TH FEBRUARY IS WRONG SOLO (AGATHA GOTHE-SNAPE)

Set in our house at 138 Evans Street, Rozelle.

Today’s situation is the ‘centre’ of this amorphous body of performances – I understand this paradox.

WRONG SOLO (the re-union of myself and Agatha Gothe-Snape) is this body’s extended phenotype.

The I is someone else.

A duet of two solos – living parallel and simultaneous.

A wrong solo corrected in osmosis, a molecular challenge to the author; a collaboration as a late night confidant of ten years of friendship.

WRONG SOLO AS A DIRECTIONAL MAP.

FEELINGS flashed by powerpoint at a fork in the road, the splintered roads end at roundabouts. These roundabouts led us back to the fork, back to a ‘centre’.

The uni-road that leads us here is the indefinite nexus of our feelings about the world that we live. Earnest, brutal, simple, felt, rigorous and romantic are we on this road – a road which may lead our horse and cart interchangeable as both carrier (horse/cart) and the carrier’s carrier (cart/horse). The cart drawing the horse. The phenomenology of the traveller on the road - the road in the traveller.

WE COME IN TO THE ROAD. THE ROAD COMES INTO US.

WE COME INTO THE WORLD. THE WORLD COMES INTO US.
